Een nieuwe generatie denkers in mobiliteit

Met haar scherpe blik op duurzaamheid en mobiliteit vertegenwoordigt INNREALL-expert Hanna Lindahl een nieuwe generatie professionals die anders kijkt naar de gebouwde omgeving. Als Sustainable Mobility Analyst and Consultant bij Livemobility werkt ze dagelijks aan vraagstukken op het snijvlak van mobiliteit infrastructuur en vastgoed.

Tegelijkertijd is ze coauteur van het nieuwe INNREALL-studieboek Mobiliteit Infrastructuur & Vastgoed dat in Q1 2027 verschijnt. Het boek wordt voorgeschreven in het hoger onderwijs en is ook bestemd voor professionals en geïnteresseerden in de gebouwde omgeving.

Haar internationale achtergrond met een bachelor in Politics and Economics aan Lund University en een master in Leadership for Sustainability aan Malmö University vormt de basis voor haar integrale kijk op complexe systemen. “Duurzaamheid zat eigenlijk al verweven in mijn bacheloropleiding” vertelt ze. “Daar ontstond mijn interesse die ik later bewust verder heb verdiept.”

Van Zweden naar Nederland: werken aan impact!

Na haar studie maakte Lindahl de stap naar Nederland waar ze zich aansloot bij Livemobility. “Ik kwam in Amsterdam terecht en wilde graag verder werken aan duurzame mobiliteit. Livemobility sprak me meteen aan vanwege de inhoud en de impact van de projecten.”

Sinds 2023 werkt ze als consultant bij Livemobility. Hanna is zowel betrokken bij kleine als grootschalige projecten. “Mijn werk varieert enorm” legt ze uit. “Van mobiliteitsvraagstukken op gebiedsniveau tot specifieke beleidsvraagstukken zoals projecten rondom Eindhoven Airport. Wat ik het mooiste vind is dat je steeds zoekt naar collectieve oplossingen die voor iedereen werken.”

Hanna werkt ook aan diverse researchprojecten. “We doen bijvoorbeeld onderzoek voor steden en andere opdrachtgevers. Die combinatie van praktijk en onderzoek maakt het werk extra interessant. Je blijft leren en verdiepen.”

Werken aan een studieboek: leren door te doen

Voor Hanna is haar rol als coauteur van het INNREALL-studieboek een nieuwe ervaring. “Ik had nog nooit eerder aan een boek gewerkt” zegt ze. “Maar ik ben gewend om veel te schrijven vanuit mijn studie dus dat helpt. Dit onderwerp is complex en vraagt om veel afstemming.”

Het schrijfproces kenmerkt zich door intensieve samenwerking met haar coauteurs Norbert Bol directeur/eigenaar van Building Values en Wouter de Valk directeur/eigenaar van Livemobility allebei expert en met hun organisatie partner van INNREALL. Ze stemmen zeker wekelijks af over de inhoud en structuur van het boek. Hoe bouwen we het hoofdstuk op? Welke voorbeelden gebruiken we? Dat zijn discussies waar ik ook veel van leer.” “We hebben ook veel gesprekken met andere experts en stemmen regelmatig online af met hoofdredacteur Mariëlle Wieman van INNREALL.

De omslag in denken: mobiliteit als integraal onderdeel

Een van de belangrijkste inzichten die Hanna in het boek verwerkt is de veranderende rol van mobiliteit in vastgoedontwikkeling. “Traditioneel werd mobiliteit pas later in het proces meegenomen” legt ze uit. “Eerst werd een gebouw ontworpen en pas daarna werd gekeken naar bijvoorbeeld bereikbaarheid. Dat is echt aan het veranderen.”

Volgens haar is er sprake van een duidelijke ‘mindshift’. “We zien steeds meer dat mobiliteit vanaf het begin wordt geïntegreerd in gebieds- en vastgoedontwikkeling. Het wordt onderdeel van het totaalconcept.”

Ze verwijst naar concrete voorbeelden die in het boek worden besproken. “In plaats van auto’s centraal te stellen kijk je naar alternatieven zoals fietsen openbaar vervoer en deelmobiliteit. In bestaande situaties kan dat al een enorme impact hebben maar bij nieuwe ontwikkelingen nog veel meer!” In het studieboek gaan de auteurs zowel in op de successen als mislukkingen. “Juist door beide te tonen kunnen studenten en professionals leren wat werkt én wat niet.”

De toekomst van mobiliteit: snelheid van verandering

Als het gaat om de toekomst van mobiliteit is Hanna duidelijk: de ontwikkelingen gaan razendsnel. “Technologisch gebeurt er enorm veel” zegt ze. “Batterijen worden krachtiger kleiner en efficiënter. Elektrisch rijden wordt daardoor steeds toegankelijker.”

Ook in de luchtvaart ziet ze veel beweging. “Er wordt veel geïnnoveerd op het gebied van vliegen. Het is spannend om te zien hoe dat zich ontwikkelt juist omdat de veranderingen zo snel gaan.”

Deze ontwikkelingen maken het volgens haar des te belangrijker om vooruit te denken. “We besteden in het boek expliciet aandacht aan de toekomst van mobiliteit. Niet om alles te voorspellen maar ook om studenten en professionals handvatten te geven om met die onzekerheid om te gaan.”

SDG’s als kompas voor mobiliteit

Duurzaamheid vormt de rode draad in Hanna’s werk én in het boek. De Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) spelen daarbij een belangrijke rol. “Het is waardevol dat we de SDG’s integreren in het boek” zegt ze. “Ze helpen om mobiliteit in een bredere context te plaatsen.”

Vooral sociale aspecten verdienen volgens haar meer aandacht. “Mobiliteit gaat niet alleen over efficiëntie of technologie maar ook over inclusiviteit. Denk aan toegankelijkheid voor mensen met een beperking. Dat raakt direct aan thema’s als gelijkheid.” Door deze perspectieven mee te nemen ontstaat een completer beeld van mobiliteit als onderdeel van een maatschappelijk vraagstuk.

Een nieuwe lens voor studenten en professionals

Met het studieboek wil Hanna met haar coauteurs Norbert en Wouter bijdragen aan een andere manier van denken. “Voor veel mensen is mobiliteit nog een relatief nieuw onderwerp zeker in relatie tot infrastructuur en zéker tot vastgoed” legt ze uit. “Het is ook complex omdat alles met elkaar samenhangt.”

Juist daarom is het boek volgens haar zo relevant. “We proberen een perspectief te bieden dat helpt om die verbanden te zien: tussen vastgoedinvesteringen -ontwikkelingen en -exploitatie én mobiliteit en infrastructuur. Hoe beïnvloeden die elkaar? En hoe kun je daar integraal naar kijken?”

Het boek biedt daarbij concrete handvatten. “We laten voorbeelden zien van over de hele wereld. Dat maakt het tastbaar en leerzaam.”

Advies: durf anders te kijken!

Tot slot heeft Hanna een duidelijke boodschap voor studenten en professionals in de gebouwde omgeving. “Blijf nieuwsgierig en probeer verder te kijken dan je eigen discipline” zegt ze.

En met een glimlach voegt ze toe: “En natuurlijk: lees het boek! Het helpt je om anders naar mobiliteit te kijken en verbindingen te maken die in de vastgoedsector tot nu toe nog vaak over het hoofd worden gezien.”

INNREALL en de toekomst van het hoger onderwijs

Met jonge talenten zoals Hanna Lindahl laat INNREALL zien hoe belangrijk het is om nieuwe generaties te betrekken bij complexe vraagstukken. Mobility Does Not Start with Asphalt but with Vision!

A New Generation of Thinkers in Mobility

With her sharp perspective on sustainability and mobility INNREALL expert Hanna Lindahl represents a new generation of professionals who are rethinking the built environment. As a Sustainable Mobility Analyst and Consultant at Livemobility she works daily on complex challenges at the intersection of mobility infrastructure and real estate. At the same time she is a co-author of the new INNREALL academic textbook Mobility Infrastructure & Real Estate which will be published at the end of this year. From early 2027 onwards the book will be prescribed in higher education and will of course also be available to professionals and anyone interested in the built environment. Her international background—with a bachelor’s degree in Politics and Economics from Lund University and a master’s degree in Leadership for Sustainability from Malmö University—forms the foundation of her integrated view on complex systems. “Sustainability was already embedded in my bachelor’s program” she explains. “That’s where my interest started and later I consciously deepened it.”

From Sweden to the Netherlands: Working on Impact!

After completing her studies Lindahl moved to the Netherlands where she joined Livemobility. “I ended up in Amsterdam and wanted to continue working on sustainable mobility. Livemobility immediately appealed to me because of the content and the impact of the projects.” Since 2023 she has been working there as a consultant at Livemobility. Hanna is involved in both small-scale and large-scale projects. “My work varies enormously” she explains. “From mobility challenges at area level to specific policy issues such as projects around Eindhoven Airport. What I enjoy most is constantly searching for collective solutions that work for everyone.” Hanna is also involved in various research projects. “We conduct research for cities and other clients for example. That combination of practice and research makes the work especially interesting. You keep learning and developing.”

Working on a Book: Learning by Doing

For Hanna her role as co-author of the INNREALL textbook is a new experience. “I had never worked on a book before” she says. “But I’m used to writing a lot during my studies so that helps. At the same time the topic is complex and requires a lot of coordination.” The writing process is characterized by intensive collaboration with her co-authors Norbert Bol director/owner of Building Values and Wouter de Valk director/owner of Livemobility—both experts and partners of INNREALL. “We coordinate at least weekly on the content and structure of the book. How do we build the chapter? Which examples do we use? These are discussions I learn a lot from.” “We also have many conversations with other experts and regularly meet online with editor-in-chief Mariëlle Wieman from INNREALL.”

A Shift in Thinking: Mobility as an Integral Component

One of the key insights Hanna incorporates into the book is the changing role of mobility in real estate development. “Traditionally mobility was considered later in the process” she explains. “First a building was designed and only afterward did people look at accessibility. That is really changing.” According to her a clear “mindshift” is taking place. “We increasingly see mobility being integrated from the very beginning of area and real estate development. It becomes part of the overall concept.” She refers to concrete examples discussed in the book. “Instead of putting cars at the center you look at alternatives such as cycling public transport and shared mobility. In existing situations this can already have a huge impact—but in new developments even more so!” The textbook addresses both successes and failures. “By showing both students and professionals can truly learn what works—and what doesn’t.”

The Future of Mobility: The Speed of Change

When it comes to the future of mobility Hanna is clear: developments are moving incredibly fast. “A lot is happening technologically” she says. “Batteries are becoming more powerful smaller and more efficient. That makes electric mobility increasingly accessible.” She also sees significant developments in aviation. “There is a lot of innovation happening in flight. It’s exciting to see how this will evolve especially because changes are happening so quickly.” According to her these developments make forward-thinking more important than ever. “In the book we explicitly address the future of mobility—not to predict everything but also to give students and professionals tools to deal with uncertainty.”

SDGs as a Compass for Mobility

Sustainability is the common thread in Hanna’s work—and in the book. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) play an important role in this. “It’s very valuable that we integrate the SDGs into the book” she says. “They help place mobility in a broader context.” In particular she emphasizes the importance of social aspects. “Mobility is not only about efficiency or technology but also about inclusivity. Think about accessibility for people with disabilities. That directly relates to themes such as equality.” By incorporating these perspectives a more complete picture emerges of mobility as part of a broader societal challenge.

A New Lens for Students and Professionals

With the textbook Hanna and her co-authors Norbert and Wouter aim to contribute to a new way of thinking. “For many people mobility is still a relatively new topic—especially in relation to infrastructure and even more so to real estate” she explains. “It’s also complex because everything is interconnected.” That is precisely why the book is so relevant according to her. “We aim to provide a perspective that helps to see those connections: between real estate investments development and operations and mobility and infrastructure. How do they influence each other? And how can you approach them in an integrated way?” The book offers practical tools to support this. “We present examples from around the world. That makes it tangible and educational.”

Advice: Dare to Look Differently!

Finally Hanna has a clear message for students and professionals in the built environment: “Stay curious and try to look beyond your own discipline.” And with a smile she adds: “And of course: read the book! It helps you look at mobility differently and make connections that until now have often been overlooked in the real estate sector.”

With young talents like Hanna Lindahl INNREALL demonstrates how important it is to involve new generations in complex challenges.
